To coat printed matter at a printing press with at least one printing station (2-5), during printing, the matter is printed at least at one station and the whole surface is coated and sealed with a primer. The coated surface is partially printed using an oil-based matt varnish or a matt ink when the primer is dry, to be coated with a glossy UV varnish. The printed matter is dried by a hot-air dryer (16,17).
