The method involves maintaining lift systems (4) on a lowest level when not being used. The lift systems are remote-controlled from a central control station (1), e.g. energy producers, via Internet, global system for mobile communication (GSM) mobile radio, or a control and announcement network (5) or are also autonomously guided upwards in situ using the corresponding control system, such that energy is fed into an electrical supply network (2). A control signal is transmitted by the control and announcement network from the central control station to a control of the lift system. An independent claim is also included for a device for using energy stored in mechanical-electrical systems and other electrical systems as a regulating reserve in an electrical supply network.
