The system has a clutch housing (30), a clutch disk (242) for transferring a torque of drive side on a pressure plate (240) of output side, and a release piston (40) for pneumatic release of clutch. A clutch spring (210) presses the disk on the plate. An electrically operated clutch control valve (70) is provided for ventilation of work volume (60) in the piston. A release bearing (220) stores a drive shaft (232) and transfers the force exerted by the piston on the disk, in axial direction. The spring presses the bearing in state of engagement with the clutch, against a stopper (32). An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a clutch system for a compressor of a compressed air processing system.
