The method involves detecting an inclined position angle of a single-lane motor vehicle i.e. motorcycle. A spring and/or absorber characteristic of a spring-absorber device is adjusted based on a function of the angle, or a parameter correlating with the angle. Adjustment of the characteristic of the spring-absorber device is performed as a function of the vertical acceleration of the front wheel and/or the rear wheel and/or the vehicle body. Control and/or regulation of the characteristic are performed as a function of a characteristic or a characteristic diagram. An independent claim is also included for a spring-absorber system for a single-lane motor vehicle.
