The brake has brake pads (2, 5) provided with a pad support plate (3) and a friction pad (4), and supported on sides of a brake disk (6). One of the brake pads is pressed to the disk over a compression spindle (7). The spindle is in effective connection with an adjusting device that adjusts a wear-induced air clearance. The device has a compression element supported at a rear side of the brake pad, and supported on the spindle in rotatable and spring-loadable manner, where the side is turned away from the friction pad. A stop unit is supported in the brake pads in a tensioning direction.
