The device has a bar (10), which is mounted on one of the brake pads (5). The brake pad has an attachment area (11) for mounting the bar on a lining support (15) of the brake pad and has a displacement section (12). The displacement section is arranged besides a housing surface of the disk brake. The bar extends in its attachment area on the entire length in an unguided manner. An independent claim is also included for a bar with a flat projection for optical detection of the lining wear of a disk brake.
