The switching configuration has a voltage protection module (5) for limiting an intermediate circuit voltage. A switching arrangement is provided for selecting one of two electrical machines by switching the phase lines. One or multiple choke inductances (8) are provided, where another choke inductance is insertable parallel to every former choke inductance according to the selected electrical machine. An independent claim is also included for a method for selective operation of two electrical machines.
