The method involves winding a coil carrier of a stator with copper wires (3) of a stator winding in such a manner that a cross-sectional area occupied by the stator winding on the coil carrier is larger than a groove area (6) provided for the stator winding. The wires of the stator winding are reformed in such a manner that the cross-sectional area is smaller than the groove area or equal to the groove area, where the reformation takes place by the use of pressure to the wires of the stator winding. The stator is provided with a number of stator segments (1). An independent claim is also included for a stator comprising a stator laminated core.
