The device has an enlacement unit (3.1) arranged such that the unit guides a textile material strand (T) in such a way that the unit enlaces a strand e.g. wire (7), that is to be processed. A drive unit (1) effects a relative movement between the wire and the textile strand. A motor-operated drive is provided for the unit. The unit is rotatably motor-operatedly driven around an axis essentially parallel to the wire so that number of enlacing between the wire and the textile strand is adjustable. A detecting unit detects a frictional force (1.6) between the wire and the textile strand. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for processing a strand (2) a computer program for processing a strand (3) a data storage medium with a computer program for processing a strand (4) a computer system for processing a strand.
