The device has a lever (1) tiltably supported around a shaft (13) and pivotable around a pivot axis running perpendicular to the shaft. The lever is mechanically decoupled by a transmission or a gear. The lever is mechanically connected with a magnetic element (7) i.e. electromagnet, that produces magnetic field. A magnetic sensor (12) comprising an evaluation unit i.e. micro-controller, transforms position and alignment of the magnetic element into an electrical signal for controlling function of the transmission or gear.
