The self-pumping hydro-pneumatic spring-damper unit has an inner level control system with oil filled operating cylinder, which is under pressure of gas cushions and a damping piston on the end of a hollow piston rod. A valve (13) is provided in a flow connection (12) between an operating chamber (8) and a high pressure chamber (9). The valve corresponds to a valve body and a valve seat in both flow directions, where the valve is impinged by a spring in a flow direction.
