Self-locking differential for distribution of input torque to wheel of drive axle of motor vehicle, has friction device provided with two hollow-tapered coaxial friction cones axially moved relative to housing and bevel gear
The differential (10) has an axle drive bevel gear (30) e.g. planetary gear, arranged in a differential housing (12). A friction device is provided between a conical detent surface (32) of the gear and an inner surface (13) of a differential pinion (18). The device is actuated by axial displacement of the gear caused by torque such that torque-dependent differential locking is obtained. The device has hollow-tapered coaxial friction cones e.g. friction disk (40) and intermediate disk (50), and rotationally moved relative to each other and axially moved relative to the housing and the gear.
