The hydraulic gear machine has a housing (2) for supporting two gear wheels which are combined together and mounted in bearing bodies. The housing is closed at the front side with a lid (6). An axial field sealing is provided between low pressure area and high pressure area. An additional sealing element (28) is arranged in the area between a housing seal (20) and the low pressure area. An independent claim is included for a method for sealing a hydraulic gear machine.
