The method for materially joining sheet metal parts (12) for motor vehicle bodies, comprises applying a liquid adhesive (14) on contact surfaces of the sheet metal parts to be connected, in-contact-bringing the sheet metal parts over the contact surfaces, and welding the sheet metal parts in an adhesive-free area (28) of the contact surfaces by laser welding process. Spherical steel- and/or glass body are mixed to the liquid adhesive and have a predetermined diameter.
