The balancing unit has an assembly housing (15) designed as a single-piece with a base section (33), a wall section (35) and a bearing section (36), such that the bearing section circumferentially encloses a balancer opening (40) in as a single-piece. A drive shaft (37) is rotatably mounted in the balancer opening, where the drive shaft is drive-effectively connected with a balancing shaft (13). The base section is detachably fixed at a lower side of a mass balancer housing (11), and the wall section is arranged at a front side (31) of the mass balancer housing. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a mass balancing unit with an integrated ancillary unit for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle.
