The modular mass balance and unit drive system consists of a crankshaft driven mass balance sub-assembly with a housing (1) as the base module, and auxiliary units (2) connected in modular fashion by defined interfaces. The system is installed in the oil chamber, and according to the structural design of the crankcase and crank drive screw-on elements which are freely selectable in length and position are used to fasten the housing to the crankcase.
