The device (S) has a chamber part (6) situated within a bumper (2) of a vehicle (1) and before a bumper-reinforcing part (4), which is fastened at a side part (3) of the vehicle. A pressure sensor (7) is provided for detecting the pressure in a chamber area. The chamber part is manufactured from a material, which exhibits a bending-elasticity modulus of less than 500 mega Pascal (MPa) and exhibits a traction-resilience tension of more than 5 MPa, which are measured according to JIS K 6922-2standard.
