The method involves determining an optimal charge point of an electrical energy buffer element at an instant during stopping of a vehicle with its locked drive wheels. A target torque value to be provided by a heat engine is determined for transmitting mechanical power to reversible electrical machines by an infinitely variable transmission. Distribution function of an electrical power provided by each of the machines is determined based on an available electrical power of the machine. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling charge of an electrical energy buffer element provided for supplying reversible electrical machines of an infinitely variable transmission.
