The system has a regulator (43) receiving outputs of current and voltage measurement modules and reference voltage (Vref) corresponding to fundamental of a voltage obtained at terminals of a series capacitor, and delivering an effective equivalent admittance based on a non-linear control law. A control angle extraction module (44) receives the admittance and delivers a control angle based on an extraction algorithm. A control module (45) of thyristors (T1, T2) receives the angle and a zero current reference delivered by a phase-lock loop (46) giving a current position based on a control law. The control law constitutes of an equation comprising parameters such as reference voltage, effective equivalent admittance or measured voltages. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a thyristor controlled series capacitor placed on a high voltage line of an electrical energy transporting network.
