The method involves supplying and not supplying set of electric units in an active mode and a sleep mode, respectively. Shifting from sleep mode to active mode is made by detection of presence of a user, and shifting from active mode to sleep mode is made when the user is absent. The presence of user is detected by detection of action on a door of a vehicle, detection of locking and unlocking action of access to the vehicle, detection of action on outer lighting control of the vehicle and by detection of a control action of a multimedia device. An independent claim is also included for a system for controlling an electric supply of a set of electrical units of a motor vehicle.
