The device has a connector (4) for connecting a vacuum pump (5) to an empty consumer e.g. brake force amplifier, of a vehicle, where the connector is made of a rigid plastic material. A thermal protection screen (14) is removably fixed to a flange (11) of a body (6) of the pump and conformed in a manner to confine the connector in a protection space, where the screen is made of stamped or mecano-soldered metallic sheet.
