The method involves placing two clips (4) on an insulating sheath (3) of an electrical cable (1), and supplying alternating current to the clips in a manner to generate circulating current in a conductor (2) surrounded by the sheath by capacitive coupling of the clips with the cables. Level of the circulating current in the conductor representing of electric continuity of the cable is measured by a calibrated resistor situated on one of the clips. An independent claim is also included for a device for measuring electric continuity of a cable embarked in a motor vehicle.
