The method involves measuring a position of a supercharging pressure regulator. A ratio between air supply flow of each of a pair of compressors and a measured total air flow is determined relative to the position of the pressure regulator, from cartography, where the total air flow is measured by a flow meter. The ratio between the supply flow and the measured total air flow is corrected. The air supply flow is calculated in each compressor from the measured total air flow and from the corrected ratio.
