The method involves directing a pressurized airflow (132) to an intake of an internal combustion engine (102). The pressurized airflow is fluidly coupled to a single cylinder air compressor at a location upstream of the intake. An operational status of the compressor is interpreted, where the compressor diverts a first portion of the pressurized airflow during operating when a second portion of the pressurized airflow is received by the intake. A flow estimate for one of the portions of the pressurized airflow is determined in response to the flow parameter and the operational status. An independent claim is also included for a system for compensating airflow determinations for air compressor bleed of pressurized intake air.
