Process for sampling and detecting a microorganism present in a sample, comprises: contacting a sample with gel for sampling of the microorganism; and detecting and/or identifying the microorganism present in the gel obtained in the contacting step, where the gel is hypotonic with respect to the cytoplasm of the microorganism and capable of destabilizing and/or lysing the membranes and/or walls of the microorganism. An independent claim is included for (1) a device for sampling of at least one microorganism, comprising the gel; and (2) a device for sampling and detecting of at least one micro organism comprising the sampling device, reagents necessary for detection and/or identification of at least one micro organism.
