The device has a nozzle tip (14) arranged along an axis (9a) of an exhaust duct (1) of an internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle. A deflection unit (10) is mounted around the nozzle tip, and radially deflects an injected fuel towards the periphery of the exhaust duct. A passage unit is in the form of an orifice and allows the passage of a part of the fuel near an outer surface (10a) of the deflection unit. A fuel vaporization unit injects vaporized fuel into the exhaust duct. An independent claim is also included for a method for regenerating a treating device that is mounted in an exhaust line of a diesel type internal combustion engine.
