The machine has rotary displacers moving in enclosures (212, 312) for displacing working gases contained in the enclosures, respectively. The displacers successively set the gases in contact and out of contact with heat exchanging surfaces of the corresponding enclosures. Power pistons (230, 330) are subjected to pressure of the working gases. The displacers successively pass chambers (222, 322) in front of the heat exchanging surfaces, where each chamber contains a constant quantity of working gas that is totally stable with respect to the displacers.
