The switch (1) has an insulating external envelope (10) including an insulating enclosure (32) provided with an electrical contact assembly (30). The assembly has electrical contacts (31) connected to electrical terminals e.g. phase conductors (U, V, W). An ionized plasma generator (20) generates an ionized plasma in the enclosure, where the plasma places the contacts in short-circuit. The generator has a pyrotechnic actuator constituted of a cartridge with a solid explosive material block (22). The block has a concave wall covered with a conical impression coated with a metallic deposition. An independent claim is also included for a protection assembly protecting an electrical installation against internal arcs and connecting a set of electrical bars to earth.
