The vehicle (1) has a passenger compartment (2) containing a row of front seats (11), and defined by side walls, a roof (5) and a floor pan (6). An upward open box (3) at rear of the vehicle includes a row of rear seats formed by a base (21) and a backrest (22) displaced between an usage position and a retracted position in which the backrest is arranged in a housing (35) placed in a floor pan (8) of the box and the backrest is vertically placed behind the row of front seats. The base forms a sealing wall, with a rear window (24), for a rear opening (10) of the compartment.
