The method involves correcting images received by a camera (1) that is arranged on a motor vehicle, by a correcting module. A quality score is allocated to each of pixels in each corrected image concerned by an environment of the motor vehicle to be represented. The pixel having high quality is selected in order to elaborate a top view of the environment of the motor vehicle. A luminance or chrominance and the quality score of the selected pixel are stored in a memory. An independent claim is also included for a device for assisting driving of a motor vehicle.
