The generator has a reaction chamber (2) isolated from exterior, and a diffusion chamber (3) receiving gas generated by a reaction of a solid energetic pyrotechnic load (5) placed in the reaction chamber. The load is constituted of a solid mixture of guanidine nitrate/ammonium nitrate, and is provided under the form of aqueous solution comprising water and calcium chloride. An impulsive type non-chemical heat generating unit (6) generates heat for triggering and maintaining the combustion of the pyrotechnic load without any chemical interaction between the generating unit and the load.
