The circuit has a gas flow connection (105) connecting exhaust and intake manifolds (11, 12) and with a fuel reformer (3) with a set of catalytic layers and a lug provoking a partial oxidation reaction of fuel. Another set of catalytic layers and another lug of the reformer provoke a steam reforming reaction of an energy released by the oxidation and water and provoke a reforming reaction of gas with the water to produce hydrogen from the water produced by the steam reforming. The layers and the lugs are arranged such that heat balance of the reactions is endothermic or autothermic. An independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine comprising a combustion chamber.
