The arrangement has an exhaust gas line (3), and a storage tank (7) for storing a material (8) e.g. firm urea such as urea pellets. A heating chamber (9) is provided for production of a reducing agent from the material, so that the agent for selective catalytic reduction of pollutants i.e. nitrogen oxides, is brought into the gas line. The material is transported from the tank to the heating chamber by a pumping medium e.g. compressed air, over a transportation line (5). Uncoupling units for partially uncoupling the pumping medium are arranged upstream to the heating chamber. An independent claim is also included for a method for treatment of exhaust gases for reduction of pollutants containing an exhaust gas of an internal-combustion engine.
