PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new anticode oligomer and a method of using the same for controlling the growth of cancer cells expressing the bcl-2 gene. PSOLUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for treating cancer expressing the bcl-2 protein at a high level comprises: (i) the anticode oligomer comprising an antisense oligonucleotide having the sequence: TCTCCCAGCGTGCGCCAT (sequence number 17, wherein at least one internucleoside bond is a phosphorothioate bond); (ii) at least one cancer chemotherapy agent and (iii) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
