PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device for controlling a three-phase AC electric vehicle which flexibly operates with respect to a detected current value, and a method of controlling the three-phase AC electric vehicle. PSOLUTION: A control part 200 controls operation between an AC-DC converter 70 and a DC-AC converter 90, and controls opening of a line breaker 40 connected to a three-phase AC distribution wire. The control part 200 includes a ground-fault generation determination part 100 which calculates an absolute value ¾A¾ of a three-phase current sum, and controls operations of the AC-DC converter 70, the DC-AC converter 90 and the line breaker 40 according to a result of comparing a threshold S1 which determines whether to stop operations of the AC-DC converter 70 and the DC-AC converter 90, with the absolute value ¾A¾, and a result of comparing a threshold S2 which is set larger than the threshold S1, stops operations of the AC-DC converter 70 and the DC-AC converter 90, and determines whether to open the line breaker 40, with the absolute value ¾A¾.
