PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To proliferate and culture bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) or mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in an undifferentiated state, while controlling the sizes of the cells. PSOLUTION: This method for culturing the bone marrow stromal cells or the mesenchymal stem cells is characterized by culturing the bone marrow stromal cells or the mesenchymal stem cells under a simulated microgravity environment formed by multiaxial rotation to obtain the bone marrow stromal cells or the mesenchymal stem cells having a smaller average cell size than that before cultured.
