PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent double-feeding wherein paper is carried while being sucked on a suction surface, regardless of the size of the paper.;SOLUTION: Floating action timing at which paper P loaded on a paper placing stand 2 is floated, and separating action timing at which the paper P sucked on the suction surface 30b by a suction carrying mechanism 3 is separated are determined based on the presence/absence of sucking of the paper P to the suction surface 30b detected by a suction detection sensor 6, the carrying position of the paper P detected by a paper feeding detection sensor 39, and whether an auxiliary side surface guide 43 is in a projecting state or not, thereby driving a switching mechanism 55. Thus, when the auxiliary side surface guide 43 is in the projecting state, as compared with a case where the auxiliary side surface guide 43 is not in the projecting state, time which is the floating action timing is increased, and more air is blown from a floating auxiliary air blowout port 52 to the tip surface of the paper P loaded on the paper placing stand 2.
