PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quenching device or the like for a melt product capable of effectively using heat belonging to the melt product, automatically crushing a quenched object after quenching, and not requiring even water treatment accompanied by quenching.;SOLUTION: The quenching device 1 or the like is equipped with a pipe line 3 with one end 3a blocked and the other end opened, and a nozzle 4 inserted into the blocked end of the pipe line 3. The melt product M is supplied to the blocked end, water W is jetted on the melt product M from the nozzle 4, the melt M is moved to a blocked end side by a flow of steam S produced by evaporation and expansion of the water W while cooling the melt product M, and the quenched object P is crushed by rupture by the evaporation of water.
