PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of and make excellent the efficiency of a transformer used in a push-pull inverter.;SOLUTION: The push-pull inverter 1 is so configured that the following is implemented: an input voltage Vin is supplied from a power supply unit 3 to the two primary windings 21a, 21b of the transformer 2; the transformer 2 is driven with MOSFETs 4a, 4b in push-pull mode to step up the input voltage Vin supplied from the power supply unit 3 by the transformer 2; and the stepped-up voltage is output as output voltage Vout from the secondary winding 22 of the transformer 2. The power supply unit 3 supplies a voltage of 82v as the input voltage Vin to the primary windings 21a, 21b of the transformer 2. As a result, magnetic saturation does not occur even though the effective cross-sectional area of the core of the transformer 2 is small and a core with a small effective sectional area can be used as the core of the transformer 2.
