PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for evaluating the cooling performance of a spray nozzle, which measures the cooling performance of a spray nozzle, which is set in the secondary cooling zone of a continuous casting machine, greatly easily compared with conventional methods.;SOLUTION: The device for evaluating cooling performance is provided with: a spray nozzle 1 for jetting spray water or air mist; a heat generator 4, which has a heating resistor and a covering steel tube 9 covering the heating resistor, and on which spray water or air mist from the spray nozzle is jetted; a constant voltage power source 15 for supplying power to the heat generator; a current measuring means 14 for measuring the current flowing in the heat generator; a first temperature measuring element 12 for measuring the surface temperature of the cooled part of the covering steel tube; a second temperature measuring element 13 for measuring the surface temperature of the inside of the covering steel tube; a temperature recording means 16 for converting the values measured by the first and second temperature measuring elements into temperatures and storing them; and a computing means 17 for calculating a heat transfer coefficient of the spray nozzle based on the surface temperature values obtained from the temperature recording means, the voltage values obtained from the constant voltage power source, and the current values obtained from the current measuring means.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
