PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault point orientation method of a transmission line capable of orienting a fault point inexpensively and highly accurately based on waveform data of fault surge measured at a transmission end or a reception end of the transmission line even when a system including the transmission line is branched, a fault point orientation program of the transmission line, and a computer-readable recording medium for recording the fault point orientation program.;SOLUTION: Virtual surge data are generated in a virtual surge generation step S2. The virtual surge data are generated so that the degree of adaptability of waveform data of the virtual surge to fault surge waveform data is heightened by genetic algorithm.
