PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical data warehouse system, which attains, in a distributed environment, reduction in the load on a server and a network, reduction in storage device capacity on a client side, and reduction in update processing cost. PSOLUTION: A data collection means 101, 102 forming and managing a replica of server data for a client 103, 104 is connected to the network 113. The data collection means retains a data request condition given from a user through the client, and can adjust the data range and quality of the replica to be formed by negotiating with a server 114, 122 supplying data based on resources usable by the data collection means such as a storage or a CPU. In inquiry processing, a part or all of inquiries from the client is processed using the replica 123 formed within the data collection means.
