PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material for forming a porous film capable of forming a porous film of a ceramics on the surface of a supporting body consisting of the porous ceramics such as DPF, to provide the porous film, to provide a ceramic filter obtained by forming the ceramic film on the surface of the supporting body of the porous ceramics, to provide its manufacturing method, and to provide an exhaust gas purifying filter.;SOLUTION: The coating material for forming the porous film is the coating material containing oxide particulates and a dispersion medium, and the oxide particulates have an average primary particle diameter of ≥10 nm and ≤1,000 nm, a tap bulk density of ≥0.1 g/cm³ and ≤1.5 g/cm³ and an average secondary particle diameter in the coating material of ≥0.1 μm and ≤10 μm and a viscosity of the coating material is ≥2 mPa s and ≤1,000 mPa s.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
