PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce transmission delay in a network even though refragmentation is performed without requiring PMTU detection prior to communication.;SOLUTION: The refragmenting apparatus forms a smaller refragment packet based on an incoming fragment packet. The refragmenting apparatus extracts a payload being equal to or less than one packet of the refragment packet from the payload of the incoming fragment packet, gives a header of the incoming packet to the extracted payload, transmits the refragment packet after modifying information for error detection with respect to a part of the given header or the header for the refragment packet, confirms whether or not all of the payload of the incoming fragment packet is distributed to the transmitted refragment packet, and repeats processing from payload extraction if there remains a packet.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
