PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dewatering method for a slurry containing a pitch powder whereby the slurry can be sufficiently dewatered without causing an environmental problem with a pitch dust; a dewatering apparatus therefor; and a production method for pitch. SOLUTION: In this dewatering method, a slurry containing a pitch powder is subjected to centrifugal separation under a centrifugal force of 490-19,600 N for a centrifugal separation time of 0.2 sec or longer. The dewatering apparatus comprises a pitch powder slurry tank 1, a pitch powder slurry stirrer 7 attached to the slurry tank 1, a pipe line 5 to supply water for slurry dilution, a centrifugal separator 3 for dewatering the pitch powder slurry supplied from the pitch powder slurry tank 1, and a positive displacement pump 2 installed in a slurry transport pipe line system 8 between the pitch powder slurry tank 1 and the centrifugal separator. The production method for pitch uses a dewatered pitch powder obtained by the method or apparatus.
