PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retaining method and a retaining device that can retain a work object (a workpiece to be worked) to which various types of works are done, and various work tools such as a robot hand performing machining and working of the work object, and a tool (a cutting tool), and also can perform positioning of the work object while retaining thereof.;SOLUTION: A workpiece-side fixture jig 3 of the connecting/detaching device can mount and detach the work object 1.
