PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 3,9-bis(2-hydroxy-1,1- dimethylethyl)-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro[5.5]undecane, capable of improving particle diameters and excellent in operability at the time of filtration, drying or the like. ;SOLUTION: This method for producing 3,9-bis(2-hydroxy-1,1- dimethylethyl)-2,4,8,10-tetraoxaspiro[5.5]undecane by reacting pentaerythritol with hydroxypivalic aldehyde in a mixed solvent of a water-immiscible organic solvent with water by using an acid catalyst comprises using the mixed solvent containing the water-immiscible organic solvent in an amount of 0.05-2 times by weight, in an amount of 2.2-20 times by weight as much as the amount of the pentaerythritol.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
