PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving survivability of a microorganism in the living body of a human and an animal, especially, resistance of the microorganism to gastric acid and/or bile acid in the digestive tract of the human and the animal, and to provide the microorganism having the improved resistance. PSOLUTION: This method for improving the survivability of the microorganism in the living body of the human and the animal comprises destroying an hrc A gene which seems to control gene expression of a stress protein. The resistance of the microorganism to stress caused by the gastric acid and/or the bile acid, etc., in the digestive tract is especially improved. The microorganism having an improved percentage of reaching to the bowel, etc., food and drink containing the microorganism, and feed containing the same are provided, respectively.
