PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for measuring the surface shape of a charged material in a blast furnace, capable of accurately measuring the surface shape of the charged material as a whole for a short time, which has been charged into the blast furnace and is in a reposed state.;SOLUTION: A laser range finder 12 which can rotate or stop at an angle pitch of 0.2-2 degrees on a two-dimensional plane (horizontal plane) and scan a laser beam 11, in a range of 0-180 degrees on a two-dimensional plane (vertical plane) at each stop position, is disposed at a furnace wall 4 located below a charging device 3 at the blast furnace top section.
