PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microsatellite marker linked to a new QTL resistant to root-knot disease in a cruciferous plant, and to provide a method for effectively selecting a root-knot disease-resistant plant individual with the marker.;SOLUTION: Markers exhibiting polymorphism between susceptible plant individuals and resistant plant individuals were selected from many microsatellite markers. A phenotype separation pattern to the pathogenic bacteria of the root-knot disease and the polymorphism distribution of markers were examined using resistant individual-mated progeny group with the susceptible plant individuals. It was consequently found that four markers were linked to root-knot-resistant QTL resistant to the root-knot disease. Thereby, an individual having a new gene resistant to the root-knot disease can be identified by detecting a DNA fragment having the microsatellite marker.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
